Resetting the
clock on mail

Join the movement to change the perception of mail and create greater opportunities for our industry.

About us

The Strategic Mailing Partnership is made up of three focus areas: Operational, Sales & Marketing and Education. By separating our work into these areas, we are able to dedicate more time and specialised knowledge to each one, thus creating more opportunities for the industry to grow and learn.

Each focus area has specific subgroups allowing us to dedicate as much expertise as possible to each area.

The Strategic Mailing Partnership

Focus Area

Operational

Since launching in 2008, we have reset the clock on the way the Mailing House sector and Royal Mail engage with each other, for the better of the industry. We are here to promote better mail for the sender and receiver, but more importantly for you.

As a member, you can discuss and consult on issues and changes that will directly affect your industry and share best practice on the mail manufacturing processes that will to drive your industry forward and deliver better mail.

“The SMP is an invaluable industry group which offers the mail manufacturing sector and Royal Mail the opportunity to have those strategic conversations and influence, which keeps mail current and relevant for all our customers.”

Focus Area

Sales & Marketing

This pillar revolves around the communication and promotion of our mission and vision in order to create stronger bonds with people within the mail industry, as well as reach out to new members and trade media to spread the word about the benefits and innovations of mail. This includes the promotion of events such as the Annual Networking and Awards show, as well as collaboration with trade associations.

“The focus for the SMP Sales and Marketing sub group is to build our community and provide valuable content and events that equip our members to promote and help grow mail volume sustainably.”

Focus Area

Education

The training and teaching of technological skills has become a priority in our industry, but in order for the market to thrive there needs to be a continued focus on the education of industry-led skills. Our educational pillar focuses on finding the best methods for encouraging the training of more traditional skills, be it by innovations in the way they are taught, increasing accessibility or incentivising them. Our Education pillar will also focus on how we can encourage sustainability.

“The Education sub group aims to provide valuable training courses and resources, latest research and certification opportunties that will help upskill our members with sustainability at its core.”
